This rather poorly taken photograph show an unusual view of old Coventry. On the left is the junction with White Friars Street near the end of London Road with some characteristic late period ribbon weavers' top shops. On the right is the facade of the Salutation Inn with the junction with Paradise Street just beyond. Further on the left is the entrance to Coventry's Workhouse with the near the Gulson Road junction. The photographer has placed himself on the line of the old medieval city wall and where New Gate, the entry to Coventry from London Road, was erected.
