One of the hidden gems of old Coventry was New Street stretching down from the east end of the old cathedral in Priory Street to its junction with Cox Street. Despite its name it had much older origins. Thomas Kirby's Livery Stables pub was on the corner of the Cox Street junction (see right). On the left, with the lamp outside is The White Bear Inn. Despite their relatively modern facades, many of these buildings had medieval interiors.
