The park was proposed in 1908 at a cost to the council of £2,000. It was mostly made up of an old quarry in the grounds of Primrose Hill House. This accounts for its undulating landscape. An area was flattened for sports and a bandsatand erected. By 1909 concerts were being peformed by live bands, but also Luckmans, the music shop, were giving free 'Gramophone Concerts'! This view shows the Park Lodge at the entrance off Berry Street, now demolished.
